ValTiberina Trail

who we are

what is?

The VALTIBERINA TRAIL (VTT) is a great journey that involves the entire Upper Tiber Valley, both Umbrian and Tuscan.

A particular path, of over 220 km, in which there is no starting point or an arrival point, but which can be organized according to more or less long loops, thus meeting the needs of every walker, who becomes thus the true architect of his own path.

The purpose of the VTT is to make our valley known in all its historical, artistic and landscape richness, touching for this purpose the 11 Umbrian-Tuscan municipalities that gravitate around the Tiber. It will be these villages and towns, as well as every tourist facility (hotels, farmhouses, b & b, holiday homes, etc.) that works in the area, the true epicenter of this Way.

The VALTIBERINA TRAIL was born with this desire: to be not only a Path that crosses, but also and above all the Territory that is crossed.

A WAY FOR THE TERRITORY

The proposal of a single great path or rather of a network of paths that binds and holds together what nature already unites becomes the easiest gateway for all those who – on foot, by bike or in any other way – they will want to enter the Upper Tiber Valley.

Are you in the Tuscan part and would you like to take a leap in the Umbrian one?
Are you a foreigner and you need a single tool – agile and complete – to get information?
Would you like to cycle on the Sansepolcro hills and then on horseback around Monte Santa Maria Tiberina? Would you like to take an excursion to Pieve Santo Stefano in the morning and then enjoy mushrooms and truffles in the evening in Pietralunga? Going from the Madonna del Parto by Pier della Francesca in Monterchi to the art of Burri in CittĂ  di Castello?

Here, you can.

www.valtiberinatrail.it wants to offer all this.

A TERRITORY ON THE WAY

And it is for this reason that www.valtiberinatrail.it is a portal open to all operators working for tourism in the Upper Tiber Valley, both Umbrian and Tuscan.

This means that:

do you have an accommodation and / or restaurant?
are you a tour guide, hiking, equestrian, etc.?
are you the owner of a sports shop and / or sports equipment rental?
make transport service (people and / or luggage)
are you an interpreter and do you provide translation services?

This is the site where, for free, you can make yourself known; and there will also be an ad hoc section where to advertise initiatives / events linked to the territory.

WHY ALL THIS?

Because we are convinced that to welcome one must be united.

A TOURIST-HIKING WAY

The acceptance criterion was the element that most influenced the choice of the itineraries. This is why the difficulty of the routes never exceeds the ‘Tourist’ (T) – ‘Hiking’ (E) rating: to allow everyone to approach this way of slow tourism.

The VALTIBERINA TRAIL does not climb peaks, it does not unnecessarily lengthen the routes, it does not want to lead far from the Valley; those who want this, there are already beautiful trails managed mainly by the Italian Alpine Club.

The VALTIBERINA TRAIL, on the other hand, is a Way in some way of service:

to the Upper Tiber Valley, wanting to sew together the Umbrian and Tuscan parts;
to the 11 Municipalities, to enhance the great historical and artistic treasures present in their territories;
to all those who want to use it, to experience our Valley in a unique and different way.

WHO WE ARE

We would like to know too! 🙂

While waiting …

Francesco Gallo

Born and resident in Umbria, after having studied here and there and after having walked even more there and here, the path of life led him to make the journey his job.

Hiking Guide (Towards the High) and Tour Guide, he has Umbria in his heart but always looking beyond, to get to know places and meet people.

For this reason, as soon as he can, he loves to travel: to study new territories in Italy and abroad, to create programs for Italian or foreign agencies, but above all to return each time with joy to the green hills of Umbria.

Ario Scarfì

Born in Sicily, after high school he moved to green Umbria for university studies, in little Perugia he discovered a big world made up of people from different countries, made numerous friends and specialized in advertising techniques.

When he was a child he saw a man talking to a computer and that strange scene leads him to want to explore the world of technology.

Walking he meets Francesco by chance and shares his ethical and existential vision for the mountains and the territory. As a great writer and mountaineer said: “We are what surrounds us”
